Sculptra™

Sculptra ChicagoSculptra™ is a new injectable product used to counteract the loss of fat beneath the skin (a condition called lipoatrophy). Sculptra is injected into the deep dermis layer of the skin to improve the appearance of sunken cheeks, hollow eyes, indentations and wrinkles. Its main component is an alpha hyrdoxy acid that has been used for 20 years in surgical products such as dissolvable sutures. There is no need for allergy testing. Clinical trials have shown that the benefits of Sculptra treatments can last up to two years.

Dysport®

Dysport is an FDA-approved injection treatment used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles in the forehead. Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport is injected directly into the site of wrinkles to prevent the underlying muscles from contracting. Dysport injections are made from the bacterium Clostridum botulinum, the same protein used in Botox injections.

Dysport was developed in Europe during the early 1990s, and has been used there successfully for several years. In April 2009, Dysport was approved by the FDA for use in the US, and is expected to rival Botox, the most popular cosmetic procedure, with its convenience and long-lasting results.

Collagen

Collagen is a naturally occurring protein found in the second layer of skin (the dermis) which “plumps up” the skin, joints, bones and ligaments. Injections counteract the effects of gravity, sun exposure and years of facial muscle movement by filling out sunken areas and smoothing lines for a rejuvenated look. Results may begin to fade in a few months, depending on the patient’s age, genetic background, skin quality, lifestyle and body site. Because of this, and because injections cannot improve severe wrinkles or deep folds, the procedure is often combined with facial resurfacing or plastic surgery for a more satisfying and longer-lasting outcome.

Restylane®

Restylane® is designed to smooth wrinkles, sculpt lips and shape facial contours. It is a clear, synthetic gel made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found throughout your body. It carries little risk of allergic reaction. The most common areas for treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane remains in your skin for many months.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX ChicagoBOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow's feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® relaxes wrinkles and gives the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is the standard treatment for varicose and spider veins. A special sclerosing solution is injected into the diseased vein, which then collapses and is gradually absorbed by the body. By the end of the treatment program, the veins are less visible on the skin surface. Sclerotherapy usually also relieves symptoms associated with enlarged veins and prevents further complications.

Radiesse™

Radiesse ChicagoRadiesse™ is a synthetic injectable filler that reduces wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting the body’s natural collagen supply. Composed of microspheres in a biocompatible gel, Radiesse is made from the same minerals found in our bones, so it carries little risk of allergic reaction. Radiesse can be used on many areas of the body, including the lips, nasolabial folds, peri-oral lines, depressed scars and oral commissures.

Treatments typically take 15 minutes and require only local anesthetic. Side effects such as swelling or bruising are minimal and should fade within a few days. Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last for months or years, although the procedure can be repeated as often as you wish.

Laser Hair Removal

Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, women and men who are tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair on the face, back, legs or other body areas may welcome laser hair removal with relief.

Lasers produce highly focused, intense beams of light. Dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface absorb this light and convert it to heat, destroying the follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years.

Multiple treatments are required for complete hair removal. Treatments are needle-free and do not require anesthesia. Most patients feel nothing more than a slight sting like the snap of a rubber band.

It is possible that some hair will grow back, though it is usually finer and lighter than what was originally removed. There may also be some redness and swelling following the procedure.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser light is absorbed by water or dark pigments in our body's tissues (such as melanin in the skin and hemoglobin in the blood) and converted to heat. A variety of functional and cosmetic skin problems can be treated with lasers. These lasers are often specialized to handle a particular type of problem; there is no "cure-all" laser capable of correcting all problems.

Lasers offer many advantages over traditional, mechanical technology, including "bloodless" surgery, reduced risk of infection, less scarring, high precision, limited injury, and faster procedures.

Laser treatments can reduce the appearance of sun damage, acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, vascular lesions (spider veins and redness on the face) and uneven pigmentation.

Pixel Laser Resurfacing

Pixel Laser ResurfacingPixel is the latest technology available for laser skin resurfacing. Treatment improves skin tone, smoothes wrinkles and gives your skin a youthful appearance. The Pixel laser creates tiny holes in the skin, stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells. Three to six sessions are recommended for full effect. There is little to no discomfort and almost no downtime.

There may be some skin flaking after a session, but this resolves within a few days. Results can be seen a few days after the procedure, and your skin will continue to improve over the next few months.
